Google To Block Facebook

Facebook and other Web services will be blocked by Google Inc from accessing the information of its users, this marks an intensifying rivalry between the two companies. Google will not allow other services to import the email contact of its users for their own purposes from now on, it wants the information to flow both the ways. Google accused Facebook in particular of carrying up contact data from Google, without letting the automatic export and import of information of Facebook users.

Facebook has more than 500 million users, it depends on email services like Gmail from Google to help new users to search friends who are already on the network. When a new user joins Facebook, he or she is asked to import their contact list from Gmail into the Facebook. Then it tells the user which email contacts are also there on the social network.

Google said, websites like Facebook leave users in a data dead end. When Facebook was asked for comments on this news, it did not say anything on Friday. This is an attempt by Google to protect the ability of its users to gain control of their personal information on the internet. This is the battle between the largest search engine of the world, Google and the dominant Internet social network, Facebook.

Corporate Dominance of BlackBerry Seems To Be Eroding

Research In Motion’s share came down more than three percent on Friday morning since investors annoyed the grip of BlackBerry smartphones on corporate communications was being destroyed by opposing devices. Citigroup and Bank of America have joined a huge developing crowd of financial institutions considering alternatives to BlackBerry for corporate email.

Dell Switching Off To Its Own Smartphone

Thousands of employees of Dell will be shifted by Dell Inc off BlackBerry from Research In Motion to Dell’s own smartphones according to the company. This is will be the money saving switch by the Dell, which is going to affect 25,000 employees of Dell who possess BlackBerry issued by the company. Dell employs 100,000 employees throughout the world. Company is introducing the effort to assure its business customers to switch to the smartphone of the company.

RIM did not comment immediately on this news. BlackBerry users of Dell will be transferred over to use the new Dell Venue Pro, this device runs on Microsoft’s Windows 7 software and he network on which this device works is T-Mobile USA. Decision of Dell to shift its employees off BlackBerry was a little surprising. Though the company was talking about using handheld devices as an entrance to sell and promote a broader series of services.

Dell entered the smartphone market late this year and it also launched its first device in United States, the Aero at the beginning of the year. Aero operates on Android software of Google and Dell’s new 5 inch tablet, Streak also operates on same system. RIM was the dominant player in the corporate smartphone market for long time, but the company experienced the market share destruction due to rise in gains of companies like Apple. RIM’s global smartphone market share came down more than 4 percent points in the third quarter.

Founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates has been named as the 10th most powerful man in the world, before Rupert Murdoch, Hillary Clinton and Steve Jobs. Forbes praised his work among 40 of the richest people in the world to declare most of the wealth to charities and other good causes. Co-founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin come into sight together at number 22 in the list, but despite the popularity of Facebook, its founder Marck Zuckerberg is ranked 18 places lower, he is at 40 on Forbes Powerful People List of 2010. Chinese search engine Baidu’s chief executive, Robin Li is at 46, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is at number 66.
