Samsung HMX-U10 Camcorder Review
Samsung’s latest light weight palm HD camcorder, the HMX-U10 has been released, marking Samsung’s foray into the growing market for HD pocket camcorders.
The HMX-U10 offers consumers a light-weight pocket camcorder with HD capability, a must-have in today’s camcorder market. The sleek, stylish body comes with a seven degree bend in its body which, according to Samsung, offers a more ergonomically-friendly grip. It contains a 1/2.3inch CMOS chip with 10Mp resolution.
Amongst its many benefits, consumers will get a camcorder with many different settings, including three different HD settings, an SD setting, as well as slow motion features. There is also a time-release feature which has a 30 second recording interval so that you can set up a shot with you included.
The new camcorder also comes equipped with Intelli-studio software which allows for in-camera editing for ease as well as for uploading your videos directly to YouTube. However, this software is only available for Windows, so Mac users may well be disappointed.
Samsung advertises a 90 minute battery life, with the ability to recharge the battery via a USB connection. This allows for simple, charge-anywhere feature that is a plus for those on the go.
Although the HMX-U10 has many benefits, the biggest negative is that there is no image stabilisation system, which is imperative when dealing with such a small, light weight machine. This flaw will undoubtedly infuriate its users as they record some shaky video. This is the biggest draw-back of this HD camcorder.
There is also no flash or light included, which makes it difficult to shoot in low-lighting scenarios. There is no HDMI port, for some reason. Having an HD camcorder without HDMI ports seems counterproductive.
Although flawed in some very important elements, Samsung has smartly priced this HD camcorder at ?140, which makes it one of the more affordable models on the market.
