Microsoft announces Office 2010 prices
Microsoft has released their prices for three of their four versions of Microsoft Office 2010 for British consumers on Wednesday. The suite is set to release in June.
The three versions which have been priced include Office Home and Student, Office Home and Business, and Office Professional, while an academic version has yet to be priced, according to Office product manager of Microsoft UK Chris Adams who said, “We will be offering an academic SKU in the UK and we will be able to give details of pricing in the near future.”
Microsoft has released a product key-based version which will be considerably cheaper than its boxed counterpart. However, the product key-based version can only be installed on one machine, while the boxed version can be installed on two separate computers.
The most complete version, Office Professional will see a price tag of ?430 for the boxed, while the product key-based alternative will be priced at ?300. This pricing means that it is cheaper to buy the new 2010 version than it was to upgrade to Office 2007
Recommended for small businesses, Office Home and Business is priced at ?240 or ?190 for the product-key version. Office Home and Student is the cheapest edition, with the boxed version priced at ?110 and ?90 for the alternative.
