Switching your phone line provider can prove easier with some companies than others
A recent test showed that canceling phone service may not be as easy as we think. Random test surveyors were asked to sign on to the websites of all the United Kingdom’s leading home phone line providers and see if they could figure out how to cancel their contracts. The testers were also asked to determine exactly what the cost of cancellation would be.
The first obstacle the researchers faced was a complete inability to find the cancellation area at all! Testers took more than ten minutes on Orange, TalkTalk, and Virgin Media to find the cancellation terms.
The researchers fared better checking AOL, Sky and Tesco but upon finding the place on these websites where the cancellation information was placed were unable to understand the complicated methods of determining the fees.
Only on phone line providers BT, Plusnet and Post Office were testers able quickly find the terms of service and determine what the costs to cancel would be. Research has shown that many customers come back to BT for reasons exactly like these. Everyone appreciates a great sign up offer. Very often these deals for low prices or even free services for the first three months can be a great saver. But, one must always make a valid comparison of any home communications services checking out items such as one off charges per calls, free calling hours and charges for early cancellation.
