15 year prison sentence for Teenaged Facebook user
A 19 year old Wisconsin boy was sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to Associated Press reports, for using popular social networking site Facebook as a sexual weapon.
The teenager created a teenage girl’s identity, and between the spring of 2007 and the fall of 2008, he lured 30 of his male classmates into sending him nude photos and videos of themselves. He then proceeded to threaten to post the photos and videos of the students if they did not agree to perform some sort of sexual act. Seven of the harassed students claimed they were coerced into performing a sexual act with the accused, which he recorded with a video phone.
According to police reports, approximately 300 photos were confiscated from 19 year old’s computer, with some of the victims as young as 15 years old.
This is not the first time the accused has had attention from police: in 2008, he was under scrutiny for an alleged bomb threat in 2008, which temporarily closed New Berlin High School.
According to reports, the accused showed no emotion after his sentencing, although he had stated that he now has empathy for his victims.
