Crestview Technology Airpark construction to begin March 5
Bob Sikes Airport will be host to the new Airpark, which begins construction on March 5, after four years of red tape and delays. The 20-acre Airpark will be located just south of the intersection of Airport Road and John Givens Road, on airport property.
The project is lead by Paul Hsu, head of the Fort Walton Beach green technology group Hsu Enterprise Group has chosen Keller’s Sunshine Aero Industries, a flight test company in Crestview, to be the Airpark’s first consumer and will build a 33,800-square-foot hangar that will house office space for Sunshine’s 20 employees. “I’m very excited about it. It’s a positive activity for Crestview,” said Hsu.
Hsu stated that the success of Technology Airpark depends entirely on the access to runways, as the companies who require large manufacturing facilities and access to runways will be the Airpark’s primary target consumers.
“We’re sitting on an 8,000-foot runway,” stated Keller, a retired Air Force pilot. “This is an unusual runway in that it is designed for hard structure, heavy aircraft.” Because of this, the two have high hopes of one day being able to house an Air Force C-17 within their enormous hangars.
