One thing that Bing is good at, is finding porn. With its new iPhone application that just launched a couple of days ago, that has not changed at all.

The applications default setting for safe search is “Moderate.” Users who search for “porn” in this manner yields several promising results. However a couple of clicks and any child can usually turn off safe search and instantly have porn results that are extremely graphic. This should be a cause for concern for many parents.

The application is rated 4+, yet it is extremely simple to gain access to hard-core pornography in just a few clicks. This continues to highlight Apples stance and hypocrisy about apps in the app store. On one hand apps that allow you to peek up Asian schoolgirls outfits are okay, while other apps that make satirical references to public personas are banned. Now apps that put hard-core porn at the fingertips of children are rated 4+.

We realize that this content is available on the web, and is not contained within the app itself but to the casual user what is the difference?

In all fairness, Google’s iPhone application also allows for searching of porn. However it’s not nearly as easy to search for images with the Google application (image search is a huge plus for the Bing app). In addition to results are much less hard-core, it is certainly a lot less obvious to the user how to turn off the safe search settings.

With that in mind, the Bing app is pretty nice. The voice search features mimic Google’s application on the iPhone to a T. the application also includes the features of the standard Bing daily images including the hover over tips.
