Google Phone Project Seems to be Moving Forwards – Google Employees Testing a ‘Mobile Device’
Over the past few months, there has been rumour after rumour, conjecture and hearsay galore about the likelihood of a mobile phone handset from the mighty Google…
Although Google themselves has not yet confirmed or denied the rumours, Mario Queiroz – the VP of product management for big G did recently write on Google’s Mobile blog that Google has handed out a new device to try out… a mobile one at that
Mr. Queiroz went on to say:
“a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities”
The Google companies mobile OS, Android (an open source project) has actually been used by many other mobile phone manufacturers over the past few months. The post on Google’s mobile blog does mention that the hardware for the device being tested by Google employees has been provided by another company, although the NYT stated:
“One Google employee said the new phone, which is being made by HTC, a major Taiwanese cellphone maker, was designed from the ground up by Google.”
Would You Buy a Google Mobile Phone
So what do our readers think? Will a mobile phone made by Google be able to compete with the other, established mobile phone manufacturers? – Would you think about buying it?
