Nokia Start Open To Linux Based Cell Phone
Nokia continued to move in innovation, having previously released his first netbook. Vendor is reportedly going to begin to open with other operating systems than Symbian, for cell phone base.
Phone vendor which based in Finland is reportedly going to use Maemo operating system, a version of Linux Mobile. Maemo will later be placed in their cell phone in the high-end segment. Other rumors, this Linux phone will be introduced next week at the Nokia World event in Stuggart, Germany.
However, some of the doubts about the news. Analysts are not sure if the Nokia phone is based on open systems will be present this year. They believe, these phones will be present at least next year.
This is based on observation and refer to the work of a group that develop Linux-based Internet tablets since 2005. They have failed, because they do not get a positive response from consumers.
“We see Maemo, which is high-end phones based on Linux will not be successful, if Nokia marketed about one or two years,” said Neil Mawston, observer, told to Reuters on Thursday (27/8/2009).
“Maemo obviously much more flexible than Symbian, so a better option, if Nokia wants to beat Apple, Research in Motion and Google,” said MKM Partners analyst Tero Kuittinen.
Although much speculation, there was still no clear information about it. A Nokia spokesman said the company could not comment on the Maemo mobile phone launch.
