To mark the first Internet Week Europe, popular internet telephony service, Skype is offering free wifi access throughout UK until November 12. People will have to access wifi through Skype if they want to use the service for free, and make sure that they are in a wifi hotspot and they must also have the latest version of Skype for Windows or Mac.

Internet Week Europe will end in five days, more than 100 events will take place in London, which will include celebrating internet organizations and technology scene across the continent. Google and Yahoo! Are also hosting many events and BBC is also getting involved in these events. The commercial arm of BBC, BBC Worldwide announced that it has made two of its popular iPhone apps, BBC Good Food Health Recipes and Lonely Planet app, which cost £1.79 each, will be free of cost this week.

This is the first time when Europe has done something, especially laid on an ‘Internet Week’, this concept had been started in US two years back. The reason for this five day festival is to increase the profile of digital industry of Europe. PM David Cameron announced the plans for East End of London to become a centre of technological innovation opposite to Silicon Valley.
