Google Making Profit on Smartphone Market
Android sopftware platform of Google rose to number 2 position worldwide on the growing smarphone market in third quarter according to a research firm. Symbian of Nokia is still leading the market with a 37 percent share, whereas Android had 17 percent share of the market. And it has outranked Research In Motion, Apple and Microsoft this year.
Popularity of Android phones by companies like Samsung Electronics, HTC Corp and Motorola Inc has pushed Google to such a position as the handsets seem to outrank computers for web browsing. Chief of Google Eric Schmidt said that he hopes mobile searches to bring majority of the revenue of the firm gradually, but it may take long time, even after growing so fast. Android software which is offered for free to the seller of cellphone has felt dramatic growth since reaching the market two years back. It saw a 14 fold increase from low levels a year ago. Due to the flow of Android phones, smartphones at cheaper prices are increasing and increasing the growth engine of total smartphone market.
According to analyst, they have been seeing more capacity going into the mid and lower tier. And smartphones are not a high tier products anymore. Operators are hoping to push smartphones into repay market since these phones are producing a lot of information traffic revenues. This is going to open a large and new market for smartphones that have been sold on many markets and mostly with monthly contracts.
