China Gets More than 200,000 iPhone 4 Orders
More than 200,000 iPhone 4 orders were put up for pre-orders in China since the handsets went on sale on Saturday according to Unicom, China. It said, because of the strong demand it has stopped taking online orders. So far China Unicom has delivered phones to 60,000 buyers. Compared to 2009, it took around six weeks to sell 100,000 iPhone 3GS.
China Unicom is offering iPhone 4 through a two year mobile subscription contract and through Apple retail stores in China. China is the world’s largest mobile phone market with more than 800 million subscribers.
China Unicom is the sole distributor of Apple’s iPhone in the country. Because of its high price, sales for previous generations of the iPhone were slow and low as well.
