Facebook Policy Chief Admits It Has a Fraud Problem
Hacking of Facebook accounts by frauds and cyber criminals was a problem for the social networking service according to Lord Allan, and the site was finding new ways of detecting those accounts which had been hacked. In future, users will know if their account has been accessed by a suspicious method or from an unusual location.
Lord Allan said, if the users are logging in from an unusual location, they will get some extra security questions. And if the users want to log in by a new device, Facebook will notify the users by SMS or email. This has been admitted just after some days, Ronald, secretary general of Interpol unveiled that hackers had accesses his account in an attempt to collect information about some of the world’s most wanted criminals.
Two accounts were created by the criminals in his name and they used them to obtain information on an operation by the internationals agency. According to a spokesman for Facebook, the site used complex automated systems to recognize weak accounts, and one fraudulent message had been identified All examples of same message, sent to other users of Facebook deleted automatically.
“We provide our users with robust reporting tools to report any content they are unsure of and anything which violates our terms will be removed quickly,” said Facebook in a statement.
