Google Inc has started talks with music labels and planning for download store and digital song locker which would allow the mobile users to play songs whenever and wherever they are. It would put Google in fight with its rival Apple Inc.

Andy Rubin of Google who is the brains behind Android mobile operating system has been leading the conversations with music labels. According to the sources, he is in talks with labels and explaining them how would Google music service look like.

Rubin is hoping to start the service by Christmas, the music industry is hoping to take advantage from the fight for control of mobile phone and computer desktop between Google and Apple. Both are technology giants and go head-to-head in range of media and consumer technology areas. They both cover online TV, movies, mobile phones, software and even advertising.

Latest area of competition between them is music even though Apple had a major start with its iTunes Music Store which has been dominating from last 7 years. And it accounts for 70% of all U.S digital music sales.
