Xbox Live Subscription fee Increased By Microsoft
An announcement has been made by Microsoft that it will increase the cost of subscriptions for its online gaming portal, Xbox Live from 1st of November. Gold subscribers of Xbox Live will have to pay 5.99 pounds per month instead of 4.99 pounds for access to online games and movie downloads. US and Canada will also face the price increase in a similar way.
An official blogger of Microsoft blogger Major Nelson wrote, since the launch of Xbox Live in 2002 they have added more content and different entertainment experiences for the members but the price was same. He also added that when the new pricing will take effect Gold membership will continue to offer best value in the industry.
Online gaming services such as Sony and Nintendo are free to use currently, Sony has recently launched PlayStation plus, it is a premium service which gives users access to demos and downloadable games for 39.99 pounds per year. Sony and Nintendo are key rivals of Microsoft.
Access to Xbox Live is free, online gaming needs subscription and other contents like movie are available for an additional fee.
