By the end of the year, South Korean electronics maker, LG will release 10 new Android based smartphones and tablet computers and it is believed to compete with Apple’s iPad.

LG is the third largest handset maker in the world but still it controls only 1.2% of smartphone market due to which it faced worst quarterly loss in eight years. Wall Street Journal said, LG will start a full push into the smartphone market after is relaunches its Optimus line in September. It will begin with Android based Optimus One, which will act as the flagship product. LG said, Optimus One will not pack the punch in terms of hardware which other smartphones do. But it will be calling the phone a gateway smartphone and it is also planning on releasing much more powerful models. “We think it’s reasonable for us to provide this to people who hesitate to buy or don’t have enough experience with smartphones,” Chang Ma, LG’s VPof marketing told the WSJ. “This is a clear answer to them.”

The new tablet from LG will also carry the name Optimus and it will be based on Android operating system. Chang Ma sais, it is going to be surprisingly productive and it will focus on creating a good content instead of just consuming it. LG is planning to use Qualcomm’s dual core Snapdragon processor and also planning on stepping into 4G market next year.
