Lebanon Asked For a Program to Access BlackBerry
Recently it was announced that security issues of BlackBerry would be assessed by Lebanon, and it is hoping that, Research In Motion will provide the program that would give it access information used on smartphone device.
RIM is getting pressurized to reveal its secure network to government because of national security concerns. Not only Lebanon but other countries are also demanding access to the communications send fro the device. Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Lebanon said it would assess the security issues related to the use of BlackBerry.
Three people were arrested on the suspicion of spying Isreal and security sources say, they are worried that BlackBerry could be used by the group of Islamist or spies. “The ministry is studying this file and preparing it for talks with RIM … with the aim of getting the program that allows a state to access information transferred through this device,” minister Charbel Nahhas was quoted as saying in As-Safir newspaper.
