Announcement was made by Microsoft that it is going to release emergency software which will work as a patch for a loophole which helped hackers and web criminals to have the remote access to computers. This software update will patch a weakness in the system Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 handle shortcuts.

Microsoft has observed the increase in number of attempts to take advantage of this loophole by the hackers in few days. It helps them to gain control of a computer by making the users to click on infected shortcut links by tricking them. “We’re able to confirm that, in the past few days, we’ve seen an increase in attempts to exploit the vulnerability,” said Christopher Budd, a senior security response manager at Microsoft.

He also said, the release of update out-of-band was a must to help their customers. The patch will be released later today and Microsoft has requested Windows users to run a system update and make sure that their computer is protected against this problem.
