Jump in RIM Stock
Research In Motion’s shares that is RIM shares have jumped all of a sudden on Wednesday with a speculation of release of new touchscreen Blackberry next week which could compete with Apple’s iPhone and other smartphones.
Next Tuesday, RIM is announcing the lauch of its BlackBerry 9800 in a joint even with AT&T Inc in NY. AT&T will have all the rights from U.S to sell this exclusive device. BlackBerry 9800 will introduce a new operating system according to analysts. According to critics, the features of phone look outdated, a full slide out keyboard and a revamped web browser is the main feature of this new device. Stocks of RIM have fallen by a third last year, so a smooth launch will be critical according to analysts.
RIM was fortunate enough to launch the product on right time. Since Apple has taken the wrong step by launching iPhone 4 without testing it properly, now the users are complaining about the antenna reception problem. This problem is putting the company in difficult situation. This whole incident has helped RIM’s BlackBerry to capture the spotlight. “This is an opportunity for RIM to respond, not only on the operating system and browser-side, but equally importantly, that they have a nice smooth operating piece of hardware,” Mackie Research Capital analyst Nick Agostino said.
